The right lens can improve visual clarity, reduce glare and help you react to changes in terrain and light. Use this guide to find the Rudy Project lens technology, colour and category that best suits the way you move.
Lens technologies
ImpactX lenses automatically become lighter or darker as conditions change, making them a versatile choice when your activity moves between shade and bright sunlight.
Best for: cycling, running, trail running, MTB, gravel and triathlon.
Polar 3FX lenses reduce reflected glare from water, wet roads, sand and snow to improve visual comfort in bright, reflective environments.
Best for: sailing, kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, driving and bright outdoor conditions.
RP Optics lenses provide a fixed tint for specific light conditions. Multilaser mirror coatings help manage brightness while delivering Rudy Project's distinctive mirrored finish.
Best for: road cycling, running, triathlon and predictable light conditions.
Light conditions
Lens categories indicate how much visible light passes through a lens. A higher category means a darker lens designed for brighter conditions.

Category 4 lenses are not suitable for driving or road use. Always check the specifications of the individual lens before use.
Photochromic lenses can cover more than one category because their tint changes with available light. For example, a CAT 1–3 lens remains relatively clear in low light and darkens towards CAT 3 in bright sunlight. A fixed-tint lens generally remains within one category.
ImpactX colours
A versatile neutral lens that adapts to changing conditions while preserving natural-looking colours. Recommended for road cycling, running, triathlon and general outdoor sport.
Adaptive photochromic performance with a mirrored finish and a slightly darker starting tint. Recommended for cycling, running, triathlon and general outdoor use.
Enhances brown, green and white tones to help make roots, rocks and changes in terrain easier to identify. Recommended for trail running, MTB and gravel.
Enhances brown, white and yellow tones for greater contrast and definition on natural terrain. Recommended for gravel, MTB, hiking and off-road sport.
A high-contrast option designed to enhance green and white tones. Recommended for road cycling, running, golf, gravel and versatile outdoor use.
A particularly dark photochromic lens for extremely bright and reflective environments, including high altitude, snow and sand. It can reach CAT 4 and is not suitable for driving or road use.
